In this video, I discuss a secret not many people know about. The AICPA publishes statistics every year on their website about the CPA exam. In the sake of full disclosure, I showed my own scores from the CPA exam. (FAR, AUD, REG, BEC) The AICPA stands for the American Institute of CPAs. In my opinion, they do a fantastic job of putting together this exam. I show on the website where you can download the statistics of the CPA Exam Passing Rates. I review the passing rates from 2016. You will find that the overall passing rate is 50% for each section. That means each time students sat for each section, half the time they didn't pass. To complete the CPA exam, you have to pass all four sections. So if statistically, you are going to fail half the time, you will likely have to sit for six sections. To put this in perspective, this isn't 50% of random people on the street, this is 50% of accounting masters students. This is a smart group of people, and this shows how hard the test is. The reason this is important to realize up front, is passing the test is going to be a challenge. Most people take over a year to pass all four sections. Your friends and family won't understand all the effort you are investing. And you will have to find the stamina to keep going when you fail one or more of the sections. But ultimately, when you complete the full exam, you will find that this accomplishment really means something. This is a great accomplishment to put on your resume and share with the world.
